Philanthropy

Since 1979, Alpha Delta Pi has been committed to raising money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. This organization helps provide comfort, care and “a home-away-from-home” for the families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. There are 195 Ronald McDonald Houses in 16 countries.
At GW, Alpha Delta Pi hosts a variety of philanthropic events throughout the year to raise money for Ronald McDonald House (RMH). From bake sales and lemonade stands to Valentines Day card making, we are constantly working to support RMH.

Diamond Heist
Each fall, Alpha Delta Pi hosts a weeklong philanthropic event, Diamond Heist. Fundraisers range from food trucks to dollar wars to “Pie an ADPi.” The event is complete with a “Casino Night” in the Alpha Delta Pi townhouse and a beach volleyball tournament on the National Mall. Fraternities and other student organizations compete throughout the week to accumulate the most points through attendance and donations. In 2015, Alpha Delta Pi was able to raise over $10,000 for RMHC during Diamond Heist!

Lion’s Share Challenge
In the spring, Alpha Delta Pi hosts our annual Lion’s Share Challenge event, a daylong volleyball tournament and barbecue on the National Mall volleyball courts. Fraternities compete against one another throughout the week in Penny Wars and in attendance points at our fundraiser at Jetties.

Visiting DC’s Ronald McDonald House
In addition to raising money for the Ronald McDonald House, Alpha Delta Pi sisters have many opportunities to volunteer at the DC house. Sisters take time out of their busy schedules to make home-cooked meals for families, interact with children, decorate for holidays, and many more interactive volunteer projects that help us make the house feel like a home to the families staying there.

Around GW
Alpha Delta Pi also participates and holds titles in many other Greek-sponsored philanthropic events, such as PIKE’s Fireman’s Challenge, Sigma Chi’s Derby Days, DTD’s Tauguate, SigEp’s Sweetheart Week, and Pi Kapp’s War of the Roses. Along with raising money and awareness for the different philanthropic endeavors, it also brings together the Greek community. Sisters always look forward to participating in these fun events!
